High Tower
is located in
Swannanoa, between Asheville and Black Mountain, and near the
Biltmore Estate. It is set on a mountainside with long distance
views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The summers are cool on this
mountain slope and views are breathtaking in all seasons. Air
conditioning is provided but rarely needed. No smoking inside
please. Some pets are permitted with prior written approval.
Located five miles from Interstate 40 exit 59 at 263 Summer
Haven Road.
Amenities: Completely furnished with fireplace, central heat and air conditioning, wireless internet access, washer, dryer, and a complete kitchen with: dishwasher, range, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, utensils, and cookware. All linens and soaps are provided as well as TV, DVD player, telephone, ping pong, games, radio, alarm clock, ceiling fans, charcoal grille, and garage space for 6+ cars. The upper level has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The bedrooms have either a queen, full, or two twin beds. A queen size sofa sleeper in the living room can accommodate 2 more people. The second level unit has 2 bedrooms with one bathroom. A queen bed and two twin beds and a queen sofa sleeper in the living room will accommodate 6 people. 14 people can rent the entire chalet. There are covered decks off the living areas and bedrooms and a lookout tower accessible by a ladder from the top unit. A 7 person Jacuzzi perched on a private deck overlooks the wooded mountainside and is perfect for relaxing.Activities and Attractions: High Tower is easily accessible to numerous attractions including: the Biltmore Estate, and the quaint towns of Black Mountain, and Montreat. Mount Mitchell, tallest peak east of the Mississippi, is on a scenic drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Parkway's Folk Art Center is on the way into delightful downtown Asheville. Art, gem, and antique car museums as well as the historic Thomas Wolfe Home, Smith McDowell House Museum and Vance Birthplace are nearby. The more adventurous will find white water rafting, rock climbing, snow skiing, horseback riding and hiking available. The natural beauty of the area is featured in the local Nature Center, Asheville Botanical Gardens and the Arboretum as well as nearby Chimney Rock, Lake Lure and Grandfather Mountain. Innumerable restaurants tempt the palate with a wide range of cuisines. The Asheville Civic Center and local theaters are venues for many types of shows and sporting events. Close to Camp Rockmont and it's LEAF festival as well as other summer camps including the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly, Crestridge, Ridgecrest, and 4H camp. Warren Wilson College is only 4 miles away and has an Olympic swimming pool available at a nominal charge. Public swimming pools, tennis courts, golf courses, and a croquet court are nearby. The area is well known as home to skilled craftsmen and artisans. A private 237 acre game preserve with gardens is available for hiking and picnics for guests. Major holidays require a one week minimum stay. Upon verifying availability with the owners, a rental agreement will be e-mailed.
